CUTCO Model 1503 Ice Cream Scoop
This is the last ice cream scoop you'll ever need. No more broken handles from hard ice cream. This baby is tough, and it slides through the ice cream like a dream. After years of washing ours in the dishwasher, it is still shiny like new.
Cutco Vegetable Peeler
We love our Cutco peeler. It's so sharp, that you can get the peels to be much thinner than with an ordinary peeler, thereby reducing waste. Just don't bear down while peeling. We ours in the dishwasher, and in 5 years, it hasn't rusted a bit.
Cutco Cutlery Paring Knife Classic Dark Brown 1720
As vegetarians, we can't live without a good paring knife. Cutco makes a very sharp, easy-to-handle one, which is like an extension of your hand. Our Cutco knives are wonderful--the best we've ever owned.
Model 1729 CUTCO Petite Carver with 6¾" High Carbon Stainless blades with patented Double-D® serrated edges, and 5½" classic dark brown "Diamond" handles
This is probably our favorite knife. Yes, we are vegetarian, and this is a perfect multi-purpose knife. We use it for soft veggies like tomatoes and avocados, cutting through frozen fruit, and even as a bread knife. It's a wonder! Read more here.
Cutco 7-5/8" Petite Chef Knife
Here at Vegetarian Clearinghouse, we wouldn't know what to do without our Cutco chef knife. We use it absolutely every day, and it's hands-down the best one we've ever used in our decades of chef-knifing. The blade is sharp, the handle is ergonomic, and the knife is extremely well-balanced. We can't recommend this highly enough.
Omega J8006 Nutrition Center Juicer - Black and Chrome
Vegetarian Clearinghouse contributor, Carrie Forrest of Carrie On Vegan, includes this juicer in her list of recommended equipment. She says, "I LOVE my juicer! ... I had a juicer in the past, it was the centrifugal kind. Honestly, I found it to be messy and hard to clean... I actually ended up giving it away... This time, I did a little more research on the best way to juice greens. I settled on the masticating style." Read the full review here, and see Carrie's juicer video here.
Oster 2614 2-Speed 250-Watt Hand Blender, White/Silver
We use this almost every day for blending up the fruit that goes into our non-dairy sherbet. Vegetarian Clearinghouse contributor, Carrie Forrest of Carrie On Vegan, includes a hand-immersion blender in her list of recommended equipment. Many of her recipes are prepared with one.
Pyrex Prepware 8-Cup Measuring Cup, Clear with Red Lid and Measurements
At Vegetarian Clearinghouse, this is our go-to mixing bowl. It's the perfect size for mixing up pancake batter or muffins, and it is straight-sided, which makes whipping cream with a hand-held mixer a breeze. We use it with a strainer to make Greek yogurt, and we even cook rice in the microwave in it, with a plate on top. The handle design minimizes "hot handle syndrome" very effectively.
World Kitchen/Ekco 1046065 4-piece Measuring Cup Set
Our favorite measuring cups here at Vegetarian Clearinghouse. We use them every day, and so often in fact, that we own two sets of measuring cups. They are classic stainless steel, and they have rounded bottoms for easy cleanup. The hole in the handle is great for securing to a dishwasher rack-post to hold them in place.
Weber 566002 Q 220 Portable 280-Square-Inch 12000-BTU Liquid-Propane Gas Grill
Vegetarian Clearinghouse contributor, Andrea of Andrea's Easy Vegan Cooking says, "We love our [outdoor] grill... and use it quite often... The Q 220 has an electronic starter so you just turn it on and it lights... We especially love to grill tempeh, zucchini, potatoes, peppers, mushrooms, asparagus, eggplant and corn." Read the full reviews here and here
RSVP Endurance Spice Measuring Spoon Set
Here at Vegetarian Clearinghouse, we love these measuring spoons. In fact, we own two sets. They are heavy stainless steel, and perfectly shaped for scooping into spice bottles and everything else. We keep them loose in a little drawer section, for easy access.
Donvier 837409W 1-Quart Ice Cream Maker
This is another kitchen goodie that we love. It's a quick and easy way to get a healthy (or not) frozen confection without even using electricity or ice. We use it every day from late spring through early fall. Read the full review here.
6 Jar Set of Super Le Parfait Canning Storage Jars From France 500, 750 ML , 1, 1.5, 2, 3 L Capacities
Bail jars. Can't get enough of 'em. We keep everything from granola to half-used veggies in these babies. The best part is that you don't have to deal with 2-part, rust-prone canning jar lids. We just pop 'em in the dishwasher to get them clean.
Butter Bell Classic White Raised Floral Crock
Another favorite thing in our kitchen--it lets you always have fresh, soft butter available when you need it. This is such an integral part of our day, that we own two: one to use while the other is waiting to be washed. The trick is to change the water every day or two. We do this first thing in the morning when we get butter for breakfast. Read the full review here.
Pyrex Prepware 2-Cup Measuring Cup, Clear with Red Measurements
Can't live without this. We use it at least twice a day, and we own two of 'em for that reason. The handle design minimizes "hot handle syndrome" when microwaving, and the flat bottom and steep sides make it perfect for immersible blender use.
Revere 1400 Line 7-Piece Set
Yup, these are the pans our mothers used. We have tried many other brands and styles, and we keep coming back to the old Revereware set. The great thing, in this age of energy-economy, is that the pans heat up quickly because they are not super thick and heavy like many brands. This is especially true with glass-top ranges. Beautiful stainless steel, copper-clad bottoms, and handles that don't get hot. We even wash ours in the dishwasher. Read more here.
Revere 1400 Line 3-Quart Covered Saucepan
This is our most-used saucepan. Since it is deep, you'll be saved from many splatters. We use it for polenta, cranberry sauce, and much more.
